Assessment and Inclusivity in the Era of Digital Transformation

We are delighted to invite you to the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction’s Special Interest Group (SIG) on Assessment and Evaluation Conference, to be held in the vibrant city of Barcelona in June 2024. 

Under the theme of Assessment and Inclusivity in the Era of Digital Transformation» our conference will delve into the intricacies of assessment practices across all layers of education, from elementary to higher education, as well as their impact on the professional workplace. 

We acknowledge that the evolving field of assessment and evaluation is confronted with various challenges that require our attention and innovative solutions. Challenges within the field of assessment and evaluation are multifaceted. The rapid pace of technological advancements, including the proliferation of artificial intelligence, has prompted the exploration of innovative, alternative and more authentic assessment approaches and the potential for automated feedback and evaluation systems. The emergence of hybrid learning and working environments necessitates the adaptation of assessment methods to accommodate these evolving contexts. Contributions to the conference can explore assessment approaches utilizing technology, adapted to hybrid learning environments, assessment strategies addressing the challenges posed by AI, and programmatic assessment strategies for a comprehensive view of students’ progress. 

Furthermore, the relationship between assessment, inclusivity, and the well-being of students has gained prominence, highlighted by a need for fair and equitable evaluation practices that support the development of learners. Contributions to the conference can explore strategies for enhancing inclusivity, such as the implementation of culturally responsive assessment methods and the consideration of diverse learners’ needs.
